What science knows
Touloucouna (African crabwood) oil is dense in limonoids and essential fatty acids, studied for skin-comforting and conditioning properties. Traditionally cold-pressed in small batches, it is one of the rarest oils in European skincare — and one of the most distinctive in ours.
What tradition says
In Senegal and across West Africa, touloucouna is the healer's tree: its bitter oil has been rubbed into skin and scalp for generations, and the tree itself is treated with deep respect — never felled lightly.
In your ritual
In AYA, touloucouna is the elder: the rare Senegalese oil that helps stressed skin feel calm and defended.
